CHRIS BROOKS: vocals / guitar / programming / didgeridooMATT BROOKS: vocals / guitar / programmingKENT BROOKS: bass / vocals / programmingTHOMAS KARANASOS: drumsBy Rick Florino, March 2011Like A Storm signal a new horizon for hard rock. Brothers Chris, Matt, and Kent Brooks and drummer Thomas Karanasos blast, bruise, and bludgeon with rock 'n' roll that's meant to be blared loud and live.In 2005, Chris, Matt, and Kent embarked for North America from their native New Zealand to take their music to the world. Finding a home base in Vancouver and quickly developing a strong local following, the band caught the ear of multi-platinum producer/mixer/engineer Mike Plotnikoff (Three Days Grace/Seether/Papa Roach/Buckcherry). With Plotnikoff and his producing partner Igor Khoroshev at the helm, Like A Storm recorded their 2009 offering, "The End of The Beginning" in Los Angeles, CA.While touring in support of their debut with powerhouse acts such as Alter Bridge, Shinedown, Creed, Staind, Puddle of Mudd, Drowning Pool, Helmet and Skillet, Like A Storm proved themselves a veritable sonic force of nature on stage. Selling over 3000 CDs in their first 3 weeks of touring, the overwhelming response from crowds saw their record enter the Billboard New Artist Charts at #61 from tour sales alone. The band and their music was also well received by their peers. Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge/Creed) and Brent Smith (Shinedown) took Like A Storm out on tour after hearing their music, and Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy described them in a recent interview as "total pros with great songs and great attitudes" going on to say, "...those guys are gonna do well". Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd even invited Chris up on stage to sing a cover of ACDC's "TNT" on their most recent tour together."Our sound really evolved out on the road", says Chris. "We kept the heavy riffs and melodies, but added this new live aggression. After two years of playing every night, we really wanted to capture the energy of our live show in the studio. The bands we toured with played like their lives depended on it, and that really inspired us."With this new energy and inspiration, the band entered the studio in early 2011 to cut and co-produce four new tracks"Never Surrender," "New Life," "One Step From Hell," and "What's Wrong With Me (Is You). "Never Surrender," mixed by Randy Staub (Metallica, Alice in Chains) demonstrates the band's aggressive sound - exploding out of the gate with a jackhammer riff and an incendiary solo break. "That song means so much to us," Chris reveals. "It's probably the most personal track we've written. We moved here from the other side of the world to do this, and along the way you come up against so many things that seem impossible. We wrote the song about never giving up, always believing in yourself, and doing whatever it takes to get where you want to be."The fans will no doubt respond to the message, just like they did to the band's first single, "Chemical Infatuation", which charted at #43 on U.S Active Rock Radio. Since hitting the road in 2009, Like A Storm has built a diehard following everywhere. "We've been blown away by how loyal and supportive our fans are, says Chris, They've become our family out on the road. Its been incredible seeing so many people at the shows with Like A Storm tattoos, and its awesome having such a personal relationship with them."With high-profile tours and festival slots on the horizon, Like A Storm's energy remains uncontainable and the whole world will feel it very soon.

OF A MADMAN
March 29th, 2011Hey gang,Kent from LAS here, hope everyone's good.. Just wanted to drop you all a quick line from Vancouver and let you know what's going on with us.We're really stoked with how these new songs are turning out, and can't wait for you guys to hear it! I'd better give a shout out to our girl Lisa Deel who already has her "Never Surrender" tattoo, inspired by the song. That kicks ass and means so much to us Lisa, thank you.We also went to Seattle for a photo shoot, and have been working on some cool new merch items for guys. It was pretty funny in Seattle, when we got to the lobby of the hotel it was full of these weird-looking people in bizarre outfits, - and I know that's saying something coming from us! But I'm talking like colored contact lenses, sharp teeth, brown robes, knee-high boots... We were all thinking to ourselves "F#ck, I don't remember Seattle being this weird", but it turned out that the hotel was also hosting the Comicon Expo that weekend! Made a lot more sense...We came home and played our Vancouver show at the Venue which was an awesome time for us. Thanks heaps to all of you that came out. We got the chance to try out a couple of the new tracks that we've been working on, and it felt great to be up on stage again. Hadn't done that since Houston with Alter Bridge. So right now we're in these two modes. We're in studio mode as we're finishing off the last of these new tracks (there'll be 5 in total). Chris is singing his ass off right now! And we're in "getting geared up for tour mode", which is basically getting your head around what you're gonna need out there, what gear to bring, what songs to play... We can't wait to hit the road with our boys in AB again, this tour's looking good man. Usually you go from one mode to the other, but not much happens in a linear fashion with us for some reason! As always, the four of us wanna thank you all so much for your support, and we hope you love the new track as much as we do. See you out there soon!
